Eighties television personality and noted fashion renegade Mr T became the newest inductee of the Bling Bling Hall of Fame (BBHOF) - a Detroit institution dedicated to honoring excellence in the wearing of excessive gold jewelry.
"As The A-Team's B.A. Barracus, Mr T introduced bling bling to America nearly two decades before the gangsta rap community claims to have established the trend," said Cash Money recording artist Lil' Wayne, who emceed the gala award ceremony. "His work forged a path for an entire generation of rappers to use gold chains to strengthen stereotypes of criminality, truancy and white envy." According to the BBHOF's Board of Directors - a multigenerational panel comprised primarily of rap music stars and professional football players - Mr T's courageous portrayal of the bling-clad mercenary with a fear of flight set an initial bling bling benchmark that has yet to be surpassed. "Not only did Mr T pioneer the wearing of ridiculous amounts of gold jewelry - for which we only recently developed the term 'bling bling' - but to this day, not a single brother has even attempted to wear the amount of chain Mr T wore daily," said BBHOF Board of Directors Chairperson and infomercial host Miss Cleo. "The necklaces, the bracelets, the rings, the earrings - the guy was a walking pawn shop." |
